Rick McNeely joined the firm in 2025 and has practiced as a patent attorney since 2008, being licensed in Ohio and registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Capital University School of Law, a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from Northwestern University (faculty advisor Tobin J. Marks), and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Indiana University Bloomington, with minors in Mathematics and Germanic Studies.
Through over 17 years of practice, Rick has gained diverse experience supporting and advising large corporations, small corporations, universities, and individual inventors foremost with patent preparation, patent prosecution, and also with opinion drafting and IP due diligence. Three years of litigation experience provides Rick with a solid perspective on how to prepare and prosecute patent applications with a view toward enforcement. Rick has served clients in the fields of chemistry, materials, medical devices, mechanical devices, electronic devices, and petroleum processing.
